On the Jewish holiday of Purim, drinking is actually encouraged. The scroll of Esther concludes with an instruction from Mordechai to celebrate Purim as a time of “yemei mishteh v’simchah,” or “days of drinking and rejoicing” (Esther 9:22). One popular Talmudic interpretation is that this is a command to drink until you cannot tell the difference between the Hebrew phrases “arur Haman” (curse Haman) and “barukh Mordechai” (bless Mordechai).
Whether you plan to drink alcohol or not, Hillel will help you celebrate with some fun purim themed cocktails and mocktails!
Reserve your spot by signing up in advance using the link below by Tuesday the 16th and you’ll receive your choice of a cocktail shaker, large ice mould, or for people over 21 – a 2oz bottle of whiskey to cover the alcohol of one of the drinks!
